Celebrate Reiki !! in Beautiful Bavaria

Celebrate Reiki !! in Beautiful Bavaria

It is only fitting that my first blog entry for Reiki Home be an exciting announcement. RFIʼs first official event, Celebrate Reiki!, will be held in Germany…more specifically, at the beautiful Schloss Blumenthal in Aichach-Klingen, Germany. We will gather together as a community to experience a weekend of music, dance, theatre, creativity, and Reiki. What better way to experience Reiki Home than to come together and share our vision of community and living “Together in Vitality.” When we acknowledge our interdependence, our oneness and life energy grow so that we may serve in more beautiful ways.

This will be a weekend you will not want to miss. Here is a glimpse of what the weekend will hold:

•Creating community opportunities through sharing our Reiki journey with one another…showing respect for how we got here and a willingness to support going forward.

•Creating and sharing joyful entertainment with the Staff of Joy and Life:

•Gerhardt Herzog, the talented musician who many know and love from the German Reiki Festival;

•Krishna Kloers, also well known at the German Reiki Festival and brings her love of dance and supporting people as they find their power in creating community;

• Melanie Hoffstead, the ever joyful storyteller and entertainer who inspires others to express their vision; and

•Rick Bockner, the long time musician and Reiki Master who inspires all to feel gratitude for the gift we call Reiki.

•Sharing meals on the lovely grounds of Schloss Blumenthal.

bavariaCelebrate Reiki! is an event for all Reiki students and masters. We invite all forms of practice and invite family members as well. For more information on how to participate in this wonderful weekend we call Celebrate Reiki!, click here.

I hope to see you there!

With great excitement!

Reiki for a Better World – Leiston Abbey, Suffolk, United Kingdom

Reiki for a Better World – Leiston Abbey, Suffolk, United Kingdom

– Reiki for a Better World –

Leiston Abbey Suffolk 14 -17 November 2013

From mid afternoon until dinner people began to arrive from all corners of the UK, Europe and indeed the world, at beautiful Leiston Abbey – in readiness for this special weekend led by Phyllis Furumoto, Ben Haggard, and Jessica Palin. Leiston Abbey has been a place of spirituality and prayer for centuries and its atmosphere was part of the Reiki greeting as we assembled for what was a remarkable time of exploration.

During the first evening we formed a circle and Phyllis introduced the topic and the three workshop leaders. The following morning we created a new pattern when the group halved with one group sharing ideas and concepts with Phyllis and Ben and the other working in a circle with sound and percussion instruments with Jessica. During the afternoon the groups swapped and complemented the mornings work with the other workshop.  Thus a sharp contrast was set up between working with the ‘mind’ and complex ideas that influence and reveal the way in which our Reiki practice is held, and working with the ‘body’ and the individual and collective sound created by percussion instruments. The impression of the interplay between the two groups was pivotal to the work of the three days together and made complete sense when experienced as a whole.

Ben with his gift of communicating deep and profound ideas with simplicity and clarity, introduced the morning session with a concept called ‘nesting’ illustrated with three circles (an inner, middle, and outer circle). He explained, “All living systems are nested within larger living systems and contain smaller living systems nested within”. He then took this understanding into thee levels of participating with the gift of Reiki.

The first level or circle is I have Reiki and I practice on myself.

The second circle is taking the practice to others, working with organizations becoming more visible etc.  By necessity both of these still involve our ordinary BEING and ego.

The third circle is when you embrace the first two circles and much more and suddenly you have a bigger picture and Reiki!! Here we can listen to the voice of Reiki as it has called us all along without the filters of our ordinary levels of practice and participation in Reiki.  This is a mystical place where more becomes possible in a way that is hard to understand in the lower circles.

I for one became acutely aware and disturbed at just how ‘domestic’ my Reiki practice is.  I began to see how my first level or circle of participation attempts to bring my experience and understanding of Reiki down to my level. This does not limit Reiki; but I am limited within my practice of the unlimited! I asked myself the question -what would Reiki within me, within us, be like if I / we could acknowledge the utter universality and scope of Reiki. What would we hear, what would we do, what would we BE?  What impact would this have on the state of the world around us?

The sound percussion workshop was a complete revelation once I got out of my first circle and let the joy of movement and sound speak for itself. Then I had the possibility of a different listening. Here we were creating both individual and collective sound and music that was both personal and but part of the greater whole. It was amazing how everybody’s contribution to the greater sound worked and became harmonious!!! It was joyous! This was collective sound, part of a global sound and music to be. There were many octaves within the musical part of the weekend, just as in Reiki there are many octaves or circles depending on our listening.

In closing Phyllis talked about the ‘reality’ or ‘non reality’ of ‘Reiki Home. This seems a vast subject that embraces the idea of a place on a level where Reiki is a powerful container for the practice as a whole. Phyllis spoke with complete openness about something – which can only be understood from a much deeper part of our listening and practice calling us moment by moment as Reiki always does…

The Gift of Service

The Gift of Service
The Cathedral - Arizona

The vision of Reiki Home includes the gift of “service.”  It seems that the practice does include service from a Japanese cultural context.  This is subtle and often lost in the western way of relationships.  Sometimes it seems our approach to service is more through helping the needy….those less fortunate than we think we are.  Or it is because “that person needs Reiki” so coming from a more powerful and expert place addressing a person who is “in need.

Rachel Ramen, a medical advocate, says that service is about serving Life…trusting and knowing that each person has their own life.  Life is sacred and a mystery with unknown purpose.  In offering to help or to fulfill an imaged need of another, we can create unequal relationships and keep the separation of the have and the have nots alive, or we can celebrate life together with each other.  This is, according to Rachel, the secret of healing.  I have also been a part of this celebration and have observed this through the eyes of another.

Reiki Home is intended to become, among other things, a pilgrimage site for the regeneration of healer in the world.  Right now the concept of healing often has a “fixing and helping”  included the idea of service.  One of the main teaching in our Reiki path to support the natural and powerful concept of oneness and of healing.  This can be expressed in being ourselves and in being ourselves, we can serve others without our personal agendas being present.

One of the ways to do this, is to be a part of the staff for Reiki Home and its programs as a volunteer.   Our vision is of volunteers coming from all parts of the world, serving for a week, for a month, or a period of time that is suitable to their service and their own healing path.  It is not intended that people come to “permanently” volunteer unless they have local accommodation and connections.

Right now there are present needs that could be filled by volunteers in an effort to enlarge the base of Reiki students and masters physically involved in the manifestation of Reiki Home.

Volunteer positions open now!

Content manager for web site
Facebook page monitor for Reiki Home Facebook page  (new one being prepared now)
Willing hands to send Reiki to the Board members and the Core Team
Data Base monitor
Local connection people for local community building for Reiki Home
Photo, Video and Audio editors to initiate, record, and edit all media from gatherings, meetings, and next step interviews with Board members.

The recognition of volunteerism as a part of the spiritual path is not a new one.  Reiki Home will give hundreds of people with skills and energy to do work across all levels of expression a chance to give back to Reiki, to their practice, and enter into a healing environment for themselves.   If you have the skill and will to be a part of our Volunteer Team
please go to “Contact” on this web site and send in your contact information.

My vision for a Reiki Home by Rick Bockner

My vision for a Reiki Home by Rick Bockner

I have a hard time making words describe what I feel and see about this project, but it is time to try to make my vision of this more accessible to others, so this my attempt to communicate the excitement I have for this work we have been involved with for the last years.

Each of us received Reiki through initiation and practice.  What motivated us to seek out a Reiki Master and take a course is only the beginning.  What we actually did was to consent to a process that continues to this day and into the future.

In my case I was driven by despair and major changes in my personal life to find some vessel that could contain and transform my pain into something positive and hopeful.  I had no intention to become a healer, only to be healed.  Although I had always had an interest in Buddhism and Japanese design and philosophy, I have to say, my initial reason to choose Reiki was that it came along at the right time.  Meeting Hawayo Takata changed me in some way.  Being initiated by her made me feel that I was a part of some larger association with a purpose.  She did not encourage these thoughts but only told me to keep practicing and pay attention, which I did to the best of my ability.

This is important because I believe we, as students of Reiki, are connected in subtle ways to each other.  We share more than a technique.  We share an awareness of energy moving around us and through us.  Over time, my view of what this means has widened.  Now I feel that what we learned has taught us that we are a world wide community- different in many ways from each other on a personal level, but moving in harmony on an energetic level.

Reiki Home offers me a chance to bring some of this sense of belonging down to the material plane.  It does not any longer feel “theoretical” or “unsubstantiated”.  We are one.  One mind, one heart, one future, one love.  The question is for me-  “What do we want to create from this realization?”  Certainly more than a real estate investment, a spa, a retreat centre, or a vacation spot for Reiki people.

Reiki Home to me is not even a place necessarily.  It is about recognizing that we belong to a common practice that we all hold to be central to our lives.  It is about finding outlets for our diverse personal creativity.  It is about taking responsibility for each others’ healing.  It is about learning from our differences and experiences.  It is about caring for something larger than my own life and needs.  It is about expressing my gratitude for the harvest and abundance I have received from my Reiki Master, who saw some seed in me that needed to be germinated and grown, so many years ago.  It is recognizing the immense commitment that our Lineage took to nurture and evolve our practice to where it is today.  It is about taking the next step with others to move into the world with confidence and not being shy to acknowledge the world of energetic healing and change.

Rather than convince you that this is a good thing, ask for your money to move it forward, and try to erase your skepticism- I want to invite you to be a part of this.  It is an opportunity.  I do not know where it will lead, but we said “Yes” to Reiki and I believe it is now appropriate and timely to say “Yes” to each other and our common practice.  Nothing is required of you.  You can find your own currency and way of contributing what you have- skills, experiences, stories, longings, wishes and wealth in all its forms.  Lets do something different and break out of the old mind set of personal gain as the only reward worth pursuing.

We have something way bigger than we can imagine and we have begun to build a structure and organization to hold our most precious dreams.  Reiki Home is an invitation to find a way to hold, preserve, and share what we have learned from our common practice.  I know there is unlimited potential here to make a real difference in the world and to be of service on a level we are just beginning to recognize.  Please join us.

Reiki Home

Reiki Home

Today I read the newspaper : wars, murders, rape, greed, gossip, selfishness….. and also a few wonderful little glimpses of positive change: the possible end of polio, new scientific research in the medical field, and a few stories of the generosity and kindness of individuals. It made me wonder about how this balance between the dark and the light might be changed as this century moves on. For me, the Reiki Home project offers the potential of tipping the balance in favour of the light.

I imagine a place where the values are based on co-operation instead of competition, the conscious development of new strategies and structures to support the huge, if currently half-hidden, shift towards a society aware of the bigger picture of planetary evolution, a place of learning, spiritual growth and healing in the context of reiki. A place of joy, music, dance. I imagine a place where humans can live in harmony with the land in a way that has been largely forgotten in modern times, using both the wisdom of the past and the eco-technology of the future.  All this is possible, and more, so let’s hold the vision and keep faith with Reiki !
