Holding Space for Grief
Grief after the death of a loved one is a very personal thing. Friends offer condolences, or may bring casseroles, but after the initial telling of what happened they may not want to hear much more, because they don’t know what else to say when confronted with deep grief.
The fascinating thing is that bringing our grief into the open contributes to our healing. This group is a safe space to talk about what we are feeling each time we meet. We will listen, get to know each other, and deepen our understanding of ourselves and each other. The grief does not need to be fresh, but it can be. Any loss that still affects you on a day to day basis will benefit from Holding Space for Grief.
BIO: Bhakti Watts is an End of Life Doula. She has been a hospice volunteer, and has experienced grief personally (deaths of a husband, both parents, and many clients). She is a breast cancer survivor. She facilitated an online group during COVID called “True to Life,” which dealt with the grief of living through those times. She taught a class about Grief and Loss for the Housing Hope organization for several years, and also for Reiki Home last year. She also participated in Presence Practice Groups in Portland, based on non-violent communication. She has been collecting Grief Poems for years and looks forward to sharing one at each Holding Space for Grief session. She is a collaborative facilitator, and intends for participants to share their own stories and learn from each other.
This group meets four times. Dates include: Thursday, December 3, 10, 17, & 31 2026
