DESCRIPTION:One hundred years ago a Japanese man called Usui Mikao taught a spiritual therapy to thousands. Usui’s students\, as well as the practice he taught them – were Japanese. Steeped in the Japanese tradition\, folklore\, and way of life\, things resonated well with Reiki’s Japanese practitioners. Yet across the globe\, isn’t it a bit surprising that Usui sensei’s system would match so well with those whom the Japanese tradition and folklore are not the paradigm?\nIn this webcast we will explore how the local paradigms baked into Usui Reiki Ryoho were globalized\, reshaped\, and fitted into local requirements. We will ask how is it possible that we were trained in ‘The Reiki tradition’\, yet it differs so much from the trainings our fellow Reiki practitioners have undergone. What is the status of tradition in Reiki; when and where was it created and by whom? We will discuss how local leadership and authority are created and recreated. How do we bridge today’s Reiki class and practice with the lineage created by Usui and his disciples? How can we tell what is authentic and what is invented?\nAll events are listed in PDT.
