SUMMARY:Mission and Vision Statements for Your Life
DESCRIPTION:When I first encountered a Mission Statement\, I found that it covered most of what I had naturally done all my life – in my case\, it was teach – the subjects may not have been the same\, the action was. A Mission Statement is clear\, concise\, descriptive and true – one sentence\, easily remembered and extremely useful. \nWhen I wrote my Mission Statement out (teach whom\, how\, and to what result) I found that simple sentence helped me make all kids of decisions\, large and small – did an action fit under the umbrella of my “mission” in life? Yes? It’s a go! No? Then let’s save time and not go down that path – it won’t fit me. \nA Mission Statement is a description of who you are and what you are about in this lifetime – it is a short\, simple\, easy to remember sentence that is totally you and what you do in your life. The Mission Statement doesn’t change. \nOnce you have your mission in words you can use it to make all kinds of decisions – does a presenting opportunity/request fit under the umbrella of your Mission? Yes? Go for it! No? Save time and energy – say\, “No\, thank you\,” or “Not right now\, thanks\,” up front. \nA Vision Statement changes with time and circumstances – it is how you bring yourself and your Mission Statement into the world at any given time. \nLet your imagination dream up what you might do and how you might want to do it! \nBIO: Elder Master Penelope Jewell lives in Bolton Landing\, New York\, and was initiated into the Usui System of Natural Healing Reiki by Linda Keizer Mardis in 1985. She became the first Teaching Master in New York State. She has taught hundreds of classes and workshops in Reiki\, Self-Empowerment\, and personal mastery from Alaska and Hawaii to Scotland\, England\, Trinidad and Tobago\, Bali\, Indonesia\, and Nepal. She has spoken at Reiki gatherings in the United States\, British Columbia\, the United Kingdom\, Spain\, France\, and Holland. \nPenelope was one of the first Reiki Masters to bring Reiki into AIDS centers at the Living Room in Cleveland\, Ohio and the Globe Center in London. She was a member of the faculty of the Omega Institute in Rhinebeck\, New York\, and taught for several years with the International Women’s Writing Guild at Skidmore College. \nPenelope is the author of two books on Reiki: A Guide to Your Practice of Reiki Energy Healing (1995) and A Master’s Path (2002).
