Reiki Home ~ Growing through experience

Sharing about Reiki

Mikao Usui founded this tradition in the early 20th century in Kyoto, Japan. Since that time Reiki has seen a blossoming around the world.

The Japanese word Reiki comprises two ideas: rei and ki. More commonly rei is understood as universal and spirit; ki is understood as energy. When combined, the two ideas represent universal/spirit energy that infuses the body with life.

Reiki is difficult to define, as there are so many ways to explain it. For example, Reiki is a general term referring to a practice of healing. The practice is taught by Reiki masters / teachers who have trained in the tradition passed from master to student.

Reiki also refers to the energy that is shared in the practice. There are many systems of Reiki practice and many ways of sharing the energy.

We celebrate the wide diversity that we hope is expressed in this living conversation. In this dialogue many people express how Reiki manifests in their lives. You are invited to this conversation as it continues to illuminate our understanding of Reiki.

• How has Reiki manifested in your life?
• What does Reiki mean to you?
• How would you explain Reiki to someone else?

These questions, and others, may lead us into a deeper reflective space. It is from this deeper space that we hope to build a foundation of commonality based on the understanding of universal / spirit energy that supports our diversity.

We invite you to share in the conversation.
